These terms apply to quotes issued by, and work carried out by, Highland Tree & Garden Services — a sole trader operated by Andrew Donaldson, Templemill Farm Cottage, Crieff, Perthshire. By accepting a quote or instructing us to carry out work, you agree to these terms.
1. Quotes
All quotes are provided in writing after a free site visit and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Quotes are fixed on the basis of the site conditions and scope agreed at the visit. If site conditions materially differ on the day (for example hidden services, additional material, restricted access), we will discuss and agree any variation with you before proceeding.
2. Booking & access
A start date is confirmed once you accept the quote in writing (email or text is fine). It is your responsibility to ensure we have safe access to the site on the agreed day and to move vehicles, garden items or pets as needed.
3. Deposits and payment
No deposit is required for standard jobs. For larger jobs requiring bulk material orders (for example driveway aggregates, turf, fencing timber), a materials deposit may be requested and will be shown on the quote. Payment in full is due on completion, by bank transfer or cash. Late-payment interest at the statutory rate may apply to unpaid invoices.
4. Waste removal
We are a SEPA-registered waste carrier. All arisings, cuttings, packaging and material waste generated by our work will be removed and disposed of lawfully unless otherwise agreed in the quote (for example logs left for your own use, or chippings left on site as mulch).
5. Insurance
We hold public liability insurance for tree work, landscaping and machinery use. A copy of the current certificate is available on request. Our insurance covers damage caused directly by our negligence in the course of the work.
6. Workmanship guarantee
Turf-laid lawns are guaranteed on our workmanship provided the written aftercare schedule we supply on completion is followed (watering, mowing height and initial feeding). The guarantee does not cover failure caused by drought, pets, mechanical damage or by not following the aftercare schedule. Fencing, gates and driveway groundwork are covered against installation defects for 12 months from completion.
7. Trees, planting and living material
Living plants, hedges and newly installed trees depend on aftercare and conditions outside our control (weather, soil, wildlife). We cannot guarantee survival of individual plants, only that they were sound and correctly planted at time of installation.
8. Cancellation
You may cancel a booked job without charge up to 48 hours before the agreed start date. Cancellations inside 48 hours may be charged for any materials already purchased and reasonable lost-day costs. We will always try to reschedule where possible.
9. Complaints
If anything about the work isn't right, tell us within 14 days of completion on 07887 933 559 or highlandgardenservices499@gmail.com. We take complaints seriously and will revisit site to inspect and, where the issue is our workmanship, put it right at no additional cost.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
